An art space of experiment and transboundarization
Samilro Changgo Theater is a small theater which led the Little Theater Movement in Seoul ever since its first opening in 1975, and it has established the artistic foundation in a rapidly changing scene of the city and history. It was designated as the Future Heritage of Seoul, recognized for its spatial and historical value and significance, in 2013. The theater is run by the public-private governance with the field artists under the slogans of “the theater that goes with the art scene” and “contemporary creative platform.”
It is an art space established for creators to present their innovative works and for the public to enjoy cultures, connecting citizens, audiences, and creators. The space consists of 「Theater」(with 50 seats) that makes shared values through performing arts, 「Studio」 for education and indoor exercises of creation, and 「Lounge」 for meetings and preparing performances.
